College Scholarship Opportunities 

The Donald DeVirgeles Memorial Scholarships, named for a former board member and president of Adirondack Regional FCU, recognize local students who have demonstrated academic success, financial need, and community or extracurricular involvement. 

2024 Available Grants

Two  (2)  $ 1,000 Scholarships  
Eight   (8) $ 500.00 Scholarships 

Financial Need No Longer an Application Consideration for 2024

Due to extensive delays with the financial aid process this year, we are not including financial need as a consideration for this year’s recipients. 

Changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) have resulted in unprecedented delays in students and schools getting necessary aid data. This uncertainty has led to a lot of stress for students and families alike. As a result, for this year only, we’ve decided to simplify our process by eliminating the need for a financial aid package.

Eligibility and Requirements

• The applicant does NOT have to be a member of Adirondack Regional FCU to apply. 
• Must be a high school senior accepted to a two or four-year college.  
• Must have a GPA of at least 2.7  

Application Materials

• Most recent high school transcript. 
• Essay responding to the following:  
  • Tell us about yourself, what makes you passionate about the field you’ve chosen to study, and how this scholarship can help you succeed.  
  • Describe your academic achievements, community involvement, and volunteer activities.

All application materials must be submitted in the initial application to be considered for grant eligibility. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

In 2022, a record 142 students applied for the Donald DeVirgeles Memorial Scholarships. Of the 10 recipients, seven came from Clinton County, two from Saint Lawrence County, and one from Franklin County.
