Whew, we made it through 2020!
While it was a challenging year, it's comforting to reflect on the wonderful conversations I had with our members. Whether it was a simple banking question or a deep dive into helping our local businesses navigate PPP loans, we were always here.
Your voices and smiles (even through masks) make our days continually brighter. Which is why we'll continue to be here as we charge into the New Year, together. Neighbors, helping neighbors. It's what we do.

Where's my stimulus?
The second round of federal COVID-19 relief payments began two weeks ago. Many of our members have already received theirs. If you’re still waiting on this installment, though, visit irs.gov and select “Get My Economic Impact Payment.”

PPP Round 2
The first round of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was a lifeline for many area businesses: We helped 82 small businesses in the Adirondacks and northern New York receive more than $4.8 million in PPP loans in 2020.
Now, Congress has approved a second round of PPP lending. You may be eligible for this second round of PPP loans even if you participated in the first round.
To qualify, businesses need to show that revenue fell at least 25 percent in any quarter of 2020, compared to the same quarter in 2019. Restaurants and other hospitality businesses such as hotels, bars, ski resorts, campgrounds, and a variety of other tourism-based businesses are eligible for larger loans.
Check with us to find out if you're eligible.

Recently, you may have seen an online survey asking about your relationship with your credit union. While it came as no surprise to us, the most frequent comment you made: The absolute, unmatched friendliness of our staff.
So this is a perfect spot to take the wraps off a new feature in this newsletter: A snapshot of one of our team members.
This month, we’re introducing you to Mya Ramirez, the newest staff member at the credit union. She was born in NYC, grew up in south Florida, and moved back to the Northeast in TK. Now she’s executive assistant in our Tupper Lake branch, where she doesn’t have to wear a costume—unlike one of her previous jobs.
How did you wind up in Tupper Lake?
Travel, life and career opportunities brought me to the great Northeast. The community, the support for one another and the education system keeps my small family here.
I have an awesome little 8-year-old boy, Vincent, who is an Adirondack boy through-and-through. The two of us and our dog, Lola, are huge fans of the local trails and peaks.
You’re a coach for your son’s hockey team. Did you ever expect to be a hockey mom, let alone a hockey coach?
Never did I ever think I’d live in an area where it’s colder more often than not, and that I’d choose to be in a frozen, enclosed arena for 9 out of 12 months. But I wouldn’t change any part of it! The hockey community has been such an amazing family to my son and me. I love seeing all the kids develop, grow and really take to heart the meaning of teamwork. Coaching has been such an honor. It really is a joy to see all the kids go out and try their best.
What do you like most about your work?
Like many others, I love to help my neighbors and community members. In my position, I not only get to be a supportive team member, but I also get to bring in change and support new programs for our members. Working at the Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union is a way to impact and develop my community.
What is your professional goal?
My personal goal is to always be teachable, humble and kind. Professionally, those are ever changing and evolving, but as long as I am still helping others I know I am on the right track.
So, what is this about a costume?
I was a cast member at Walt Disney World in Orlando, where I played many roles. (Don’t forget to ask for the Grey Stuff at the Be Our Guest restaurant!)
