Dear member,

Whether you’ve been a member of Adirondack Regional FCU for one year or 50, you’re in good company: Over 403 million people belong to credit unions around the world, belonging to 82,000 institutions in 98 countries.

We think that’s worth celebrating! This Thursday, Oct. 17, stop into any of our branches between 9–11 a.m. to mark International Credit Union Day, an annual event sponsored since 1948 by the World Council of Credit Unions. We’ll provide doughnuts and drinks, as well as all the reasons why credit unions are such a force for community improvement in all the places they operate. (Did you know 1.4 billion people around the world don’t have banking services? The theme of this year’s celebration, “One World Through Cooperative Finance,” stresses the importance credit unions have in helping all people gain access to financial services.)

NEWS FROM YOUR CREDIT UNION

Falling Interest Rates:What can I expect?
When the Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate in September, it ended a two-year era of steadily rising rates. At Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union, whenever the nation’s central bank makes a move, we’re often asked: What does this mean for our members? Learn more here.

Join Us for Halloween
Our staff will be ready to dispense treats (or tricks) to all your villains and superheroes, princes and princesses, and everything in between at our upcoming community events this Halloween. Here’s where you’ll find us in Tupper Lake, Potsdam and Plattsburgh, bravely confronting some of the area's scariest costumes.

Stay Safe Online
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month — and if you want to avoid something really scary, it’s a great time to give your own online defenses a quick review. After all, the FBI reported more than 880,000 complaints about online fraud last year alone, representing losses of over $12.5 billion. Here are some simple tips you can follow.

Make a Child’s Holiday Bright
The holidays are on the way — will you give a local child a day to remember?
On November 1, we will once again accept gifts for the Kiwanis Club’s “Castle of Toys” program in Tupper Lake. To participate, select a tag from the Christmas tree at our Tupper Lake branch. Then, find a gift appropriate for the age and gender of the child listed on the tag, and return the unwrapped package under the tree. Click here for more info.
