Forward Forward

Dear Member,

Two years ago this month, I joined Adirondack Regional. I’ve spent a long career in finance, including stints at some of the largest institutions in the country. But in many ways, my work here is what I wanted my career to have been from the outset: A chance to really make an impact for the people we serve, in the places where we serve them.

I’m really proud to be working at Adirondack Regional, with this team, in these communities. If you’re interested in reading a little more about my thoughts on reaching the two-year mark, please head to our website for more.

NEWS FROM YOUR CREDIT UNION

Looking Good

We’re on track to move into our new Plattsburgh branch around the beginning of July. The 1,900-square-foot building at 672 Route 3 (the former home of Kneucraft Fine Jewelers) is twice as big as our current space. Things are shaping up nicely—take a look!

Annual Meeting: Friday, May 28

As a credit union member, you’re also a credit union owner and can attend our annual meeting, where you can meet leadership, review our financial results and vote. Two board members, George Harriman and Mary-Ellen Snyder, are seeking re-appointment to three-year terms. Join us on Friday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Goff-Nelson Memorial Library at 41 Lake Street in Tupper Lake.

Training Tomorrow's Leaders

We have no doubt: Tomorrow’s leaders are in our schools right now. But to reach their maximum potential, those leadership skills need to be cultivated. Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) believes that, too. And this summer, Adirondack Regional will sponsor three area students to attend one of the group’s leadership sessions.

BANK SHOTS
Typically, we feature a representative from your local branch in this space—but this month, we’re : Stacy Callaghan and Sandra Churco, each of whom work out of Tupper Lake but service members in each of our three branches.

I work in the accounting department at Adirondack Regional. I’ve lived in Tupper Lake all my life. In 2001, a close friend of mine, Melissa Richmond—who still works here—called me up and said, ‘Get up here, the credit union is hiring.’ I have been here ever since.

For most of my years here, I was the head teller. It’s a great position; I grew so much in that job. I always talked about getting into the accounting department, though, and now I can finally say I made it. But as long as I’m working here, I will continue to do the best job I can taking care of our members.

When I'm not with my work family, I am enjoying camping , riding 4-wheelers and just spending time with family and friends. I am proud to be a stepmom of two incredible boys and I have a son and twin daughters of my own. We spend as much time together as we can by hanging out in our pool or just playing board games together. I can say I have a great life!

Senior Loan Officer Sandra Churco grew up in Tupper Lake, too and has been here even longer than Stacy—she arrived in March 2001.

Family, friends and our quiet community keep me to the area. I also love the outdoors especially  the lakes and mountains this area has to offer.

Working here has taught me that everyone has a story. How someone appears on the outside may not necessarily match what is going on inside. I always keep an open mind when working with our members.

Many people are surprised when they learn I have a nursing degree. Nursing has taught me patience and compassion for others. I find myself constantly wanting to help others in need. They are also surprised to learn that I have gone skydiving with my mother.

The best advice I’ve ever gotten: Don't stress about the little things in life. Learn to pick your battles.
