  • Get To Know … Deolinda Jessie, Supervisory Committee Volunteer

Doelinda Jessie, ARFCU Supervisory Committee VolunteerSeveral years ago, Deolinda Jessie worked part-time at Adirondack Regional FCU when the credit union was in a staffing crunch. When she saw our call for a volunteer on our supervisory committee, Deolinda answered the call again.

The supervisory committee handles a variety of important tasks, including conducting cash counts at each of our branches and hiring an auditor. We talked to her about why she’s pitching in, what she loved about being a volunteer.

Tell us a little more about yourself.

I've been married for 41 years to my husband Greg. We have one child who lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and son. We have one cat and a new 8-week-old black lab puppy. I retired from Sunmount after 32 years and am enjoying it!

Why did you pitch in?

I've been retired for 3 years and decided a little volunteer work at the credit union would be interesting.

What about living in the North Country is special to you?

The seasons, the people, my family and friends. I think Tupper Lake is a great place to raise families and is a welcoming community.

What is something people are surprised to learn about you?

I'm an avid rock painter! Look around town, you may find one! I'm also a volunteer for the Fresh Air Fund (over 20 years), an organization that sends city children to rural areas for summer vacations.

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever talked with?

Probably my father, who tells lots of stories from his childhood and remembers everything!
