Talk about a credit score: This month, the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake received a $12,500 donation from Elan Credit Card, the company that provides credit card services to our credit union members.

When Elan asked us for a local group to support, we suggested the humane society. The non-profit shelter can house up to 34 pets at a time; as a no-kill shelter, it cares for every animal it takes in until they’re adopted. (We’re a co-sponsor of the organization’s annual Bark in the Park event held in Tupper Lake.) 

“We’re delighted to expand our reach this year to the communities of 15 credit union and 15 community bank partners,” said John Owens, Elan Credit Card General Manager, “From food insecurity and housing to animal shelters and youth arts programming, the Elan Charitable Giving program continues to support the needs of our partner’s communities.” 

Elan’s Elan Charitable Giving program distributed $375,000 in donations to 30 communities. Since launching in 2022, Elan has given $1.3 million to non-profit groups across the country.
