  • Meet Anthony Bernardi - Our New Financial Analyst

Anthony BernardiAnthony Bernardi, Adirondack Regional FCU’s newly hired financial analyst, is fluent in the language of Federal Reserve policy decisions and the intricacies of the Austrian school of economic theory.

After a month on the job at the credit union, though, he has a more down-to-earth insight on the role we play in our members’ financial lives.

“Everyone knows everyone’s name,” he says. “It’s really refreshing to see.”

From his desk at our Tupper Lake branch, right next to the entrance, Anthony sees the connection our members have with us every day. To him, it’s a reminder of the importance Adirondack Regional has in the everyday lives of our members. Those connections also remind the Saranac native why he wanted to stick around the region after graduating college in the spring, rather than taking a 90-hour-a-week job at a Wall Street firm.

Anthony Bernardi, outdoor enthusiast“I’m an avid outdoorsman, so I need to be somewhere where the mountains are,” said Anthony, who graduated from St. Lawrence University with a dual degree in business and economics. He’s also a certified wilderness first responder and a rock climbing guide.

His job doesn’t always require the snap reflexes one needs backcountry skiing, or clinging to a cliff. But he does need to draw on his business acumen to pull the kind of meaningful information out of piles of data Adirondack Regional needs to in order to set competitive interest rates, and remain in compliance with credit union regulations.

While some may consider finance a dry subject, he’s always been drawn to the challenge of economics and math, and the ways that numbers connect to the world around us.

And now that he’s here, in his first real-world job after college, “I want to keep learning,” says Anthony, who said he’s looking forward to doing a deep dive into the world of finance and becoming an Excel spreadsheet warrior as well. “Even though I graduated college, that doesn’t mean you stop learning.”
