Back by popular demand: Shred Day at our Tupper Lake branch (280 Park St.), when you’re welcome to bring your top-secret and not-so-top-secret documents for destruction.

On Friday, May 17, from 9-11am, Adirondack Mobile Shredding will accept up to four Bankers Box-size cartons of material for safe disposal through its industrial-sized shredder.

Tossing old credit card statements, medical paperwork, tax returns and other sensitive paperwork into the trash can give identity thieves access to all kinds of personal info. That’s why shredding them is a good idea.

Experts say, in general, you can dispose of tax returns more than 7 years old; other records, such as utility bills, credit card statements and medical paperwork, can be disposed of more quickly.
