  • Tupper Lake Branch Welcomes New Financial Analyst - Kate Harriman

Kate Harriman, Financial AnalystOur latest hire, Kate Harriman, has already gotten a head start on the new employee orientation: She completed an internship at our Tupper Lake branch last summer. And after graduating from St. Lawrence University in May, she joined us as a financial analyst.

In that position, she handles vital tasks such as reconciling the balance sheet general ledgers, preparing month-end accruals, and learning how to prepare the credit union’s call report, a quarterly document that verifies the institution’s financial health.

Like last summer, she’s learned the ropes by working alongside Basel Farhat, our financial specialist. “The most interesting part of the work, so far, is when Basel says, ‘I have a project for you,’” she says. “He’ll give me a data source and an end goal, then he’ll let me loose to work on my own to find something valuable.”

Kate, a Tupper Lake native, says she’s thankful to be able to find a job in her field close to home—and at a place she knows well: Her father, George, has served on Adirondack Regional FCU’s board for more than 20 years. “My dad is an example for me to follow,” she says. “Hopefully, one day I can be looked up to like him.
